Overview

Falkenrath Black is the historical Lord Of Souls, a former Arcaneum student and the ideological opposite of Archie Rosenberg.

As students, Archie and Black are known as the Strongest and the Smartest. Archie possesses overwhelming spatial power; Black uses transfiguration with exceptional precision, patience and judgement. Their friendship becomes one of the defining relationships in modern magical history.

After a catastrophe in 1892, the two reach incompatible conclusions about power, responsibility and the relationship between magical society and ordinary humanity. Black leaves Arcaneum, turns toward Cursed Magic and eventually leads the movement responsible for the Second Great Wizarding War.

Public history records that an indirect coalition organised by Archie defeats Black in 1920. The full significance of that wording is deliberately not explained here.

Personality

Young Black is quiet, observant, reasonable and precise. He watches before acting and often tempers Archie’s pride with patience.

The same traits later harden into something dangerous. Patience becomes long-term conspiracy, precision becomes control and emotional perception becomes the ability to identify exactly which truth will move another person toward his cause.

Black is most dangerous when he is partly correct. He recognises genuine institutional abuse and suffering, then converts those wounds into justification for domination and mass violence.

Magic

Black’s natural Expression is a form of transfiguration associated with non-organic physical matter. It rewards touch, precision and understanding of structure rather than raw destructive output.

Historical sources also associate the Lord Of Souls with Cursed Magic and the manipulation of organic and spiritual information. The exact applications, limits, survival mechanics and later developments are central spoilers and remain absent from this page.

Appearance

Black’s confirmed physical design remains TBC. Hair, eyes, complexion, height, build, clothing and magical visual effects have not yet been established in reliable current canon.

No inherited fan design or assistant-generated feature should be treated as canonical.
