The Second Great Wizarding War is Falkenrath Black’s twentieth-century campaign against the existing magical order and its relationship with the plebeian world.

The conflict establishes the historical Harbingers and Deathstalker movement without making their later plans premise-level knowledge.

Course Of The War

Origin

The 1892 Project Astaroth catastrophe radicalises Black. Lisa’s murder and the abuse of Asta convince him that plebeians create magical disaster through interference and should be eradicated. Archie refuses to help.

Black leaves Arcaneum, studies cursed magic and expands Transfiguration from matter into souls. In 1902 he publicly kills the Magus Primus and begins open war.

Harbingers And Deathstalkers

Twenty-two elite followers receive Major Arcana titles as the Original Harbingers. Lower-rarity believers become Deathstalkers, allowing the movement to infiltrate and fight at scale.

1920 Defeat

Archie’s pact prevents direct harm against Black. He organises a coalition capable of defeating Black’s body without personally violating the promise. Nicholas Nottingham and Eva Everdeen become associated with the Sword and Bow Of Vetus during this period.

Black’s cursed mastery prevents bodily defeat from becoming final death. The war ends publicly, but the Lord Of Souls remains capable of return.

History And Development

Prepared between 1892 and 1902; open conflict lasts from 1902 to 1920.

Role And Significance

The war transforms one broken friendship into a social movement and proves that literal loyalty to a promise can outlive every value that made it worth taking.
