Overview
Ley Lines are invisible pathways forming the world’s magical circulatory and nervous system. They distribute mana, recover spent energy and process the memories and experiences returned by death.
They are described as sentient but impartial: capable of recognising pacts and choosing a Mage Of Time, yet unwilling to act as a person’s obedient power source.
Operation
Ley Lines support two interlocking cycles. The Cycle Of Magic follows Source → Conduit → Power → Waste. The Cycle Of Souls follows Memory → Experience → Time → Mana.
Ordinary magic draws from this system and must obey its laws. A mage can request, channel or contract with the Lines, but cannot command them.
