The Tower is the Harbinger deployed in WOC1 to secure the vessel required for Black’s return. The Tower’s Curse - Rot decomposes anything touched and can destabilise Vetus Domains as well as living targets.
Tower is also Mark Nottingham’s only friend. The attempt to rot Tony Thompson provokes Blight, who destroys Tower in 2025.
Plot
The Tower operates through Mark and becomes the first named Harbinger whom Lilia’s group confronts directly. Mark attributes his anomalous magical perception to the period after the friendship began.
At the Wurzelheim Domain, Tower’s touch causes the structure to decay. Tower overwhelms Lilia, takes Tony hostage and demands Mark. Even after obtaining him, Tower attempts to kill Tony slowly through Rot.
The touch reaches Blight inside Tony’s mindscape. Blight interprets the act as laying a hand on him, takes control of the vessel and severs Tower into hundreds of pieces.

Thematic Function
Tower bridges the hidden conspiracy and the visible cost of cursed magic. The friendship with Mark suggests an interior life the current plot only partly reveals, while the betrayal of the hostage exchange proves that connection does not make the Harbinger safe.
