The Cycle Of Souls describes what happens when a living being dies. The soul returns to the Ley Lines, where identity-bearing memories and accumulated experiences are stripped and repurposed.

This process supports both time and the renewal of mana.

The Four Components

Death And Processing

A soul contains memory, experience and identity. At death the Ley Lines draw it into the cycle. Experiences revitalise entropic mana, while memories join the collective structure that constitutes time.

The remaining soul is described as an empty shell after processing. Rule Two protects this transition: what has passed into the cycle cannot ordinarily be retrieved or changed.

Exceptions And Violations

The Mage Of Time can alter the memory-structure of time only through a direct contract. Cursed magic can bypass ordinary law, but does not make consequences disappear. Blight avoids full processing because cursed saturation causes the Lines to reject rather than accept him cleanly.

Soul Transmission attempts continuity before or outside ordinary processing by carrying identity through living descendants. Black’s soul techniques likewise manipulate information without proving that a fully processed soul can be restored.

History And Development

The cycle exists independently of mage society. Later soul specialists, temporal mages and cursed researchers learn to approach its boundaries.

Role And Significance

Death supplies the setting’s magical ecology without making resurrection routine. Memory and experience remain valuable resources precisely because processing normally cannot be undone.
