Core ConflictGrowing from a dependent hatchling into a proud and powerful dragon without losing the tenderness of his human bond

White is a young mabeast, Lilia Eberhardt’s familiar and the eventual Light Dragon. Lilia discovers him as an almost indestructible pale egg during one of her ruin expeditions. He hatches shortly before the events of WOC1 and initially behaves like an affectionate toddler, commonly riding on her shoulder and responding to the world through squeaks, mimicry and physical closeness.

White’s evolution changes more than his size. As an E1 Wyrm, he copies only the most recently available magic. His E2 Drake form stores magical information and reproduces any magic he has witnessed. At E3, he becomes the single living Light Dragon: a Legendary mabeast with human intelligence, speech, a humanoid form and complete magical immunity while fully draconic.

Full-series spoilers

White evolves from E1 to E2 during the Wurzelheim/Tower battle in WOC1 and completes E3 during the Operation Zero fight at the end of WOC2, becoming the Light Dragon. His relationship with Lilia becomes explicitly sibling-like.

During the resistance, White sheds hide with exceptional magical resistance. He and Tony turn it into protective clothing for Lilia. His status after WOC3 and his whereabouts during AOC1 in 2045 remain TBC.

Plot

The Iridescent Egg

Approximately three months before WOC1, Lilia finds a pale egg inside a Domain or magical ruin. Its shell reflects a faint rainbow pattern and remains unchanged by forces that should destroy an ordinary object, including explosions.

Lilia adds the egg to her collection without knowing exactly what it contains. It eventually hatches into a small white Wyrm with iridescent scales and marine-blue eyes. She names him White.

His exact origin, parentage, the ruin in which he was found and the reason the egg remained dormant are TBC.

Treasures Of Old

E1 Wyrm

At the beginning of WOC1, White is a newly hatched E1 Wyrm with the intelligence of a toddler. He cannot speak. He communicates through small vocalisations, movement and attachment, often perching on Lilia’s shoulder.

He is shy around unfamiliar people and initially cautious of Tony Thompson. Tony’s scepticism and discomfort contrast with Lilia’s immediate affection, but White gradually accepts him. The change is one of the first signs that Lilia and Tony’s forced partnership is becoming a shared home rather than a temporary investigation.

As an E1, White has approximately 33% magic resistance and can copy the most recently available magical effect. He does not yet possess a stable personal element.

E2 Drake

White evolves into an E2 Drake during the Wurzelheim conflict involving The Tower. The new stage raises his apparent intelligence to that of a child around six to eight years old, although he still cannot speak.

His copying ability also matures. Instead of retaining only the latest available magic, White can store the magical information of effects he witnesses and reproduce them freely later. This turns experience itself into a growing arsenal.

His resistance rises to approximately 66%, making him increasingly difficult to injure through magic even before his final evolution.

Death Of Time

At Arcaneum, Lilia and the Witch Of Beasts, Miranda Cosglow, help White develop toward full dragonhood. Mila Cosglow also spends time with him. His training occurs alongside Lilia and Tony’s investigation of the Domains, the Harbingers and the supposedly impossible separation of Tony and Blight.

White completes his E3 metamorphosis during the Operation Zero fight at the end of WOC2. He becomes the Light Dragon, gains speech and human-level intelligence, and can assume both a full dragon form and a humanoid form resembling a formal teenage boy.

Only one living E3 dragon of each attribute can exist at a time. White is therefore not merely a dragon who uses light; his maturity establishes him as the singular living Light Dragon of his era.

Age Of Rebirth

White enters WOC3 learning to inhabit an intelligent humanoid identity while retaining the instincts and physical reality of a dragon. His bond with Lilia is now explicitly that of a younger brother and elder sister rather than owner and pet.

He becomes part of the chosen family formed by Lilia and Tony at the Greenwich Royal Observatory. White’s affection for Tony has matured from wary tolerance into trust, and the three operate as a domestic unit inside the resistance.

During the war, White sheds part of his hide. Its magical resistance survives separation from his body. White and Tony use the material to create protective clothing for Lilia, allowing the people she has protected to protect her in return.

White fights for the resistance against Black and his forces. His final draconic form provides immense physical strength, flight and magical immunity, while his humanoid form allows speech and ordinary interaction at the cost of reduced resistance.

Writings Of Fate

White’s whereabouts, condition, allegiances and role in 2045 are TBC. No page should assume that he is dead, missing, imprisoned or still living with Lilia until the AOC material establishes it.

Role

White begins as the clearest expression of Lilia’s capacity to care for something without fully understanding it. Her Archive is built around possession and preservation; her relationship with White gradually rejects those ideas. He is not an item collected from a ruin but a person who grows beyond dependence and chooses to remain family.

In the ensemble, White provides warmth, non-verbal emotional clarity and later a source of overwhelming physical defence. His rapid maturity lets the trilogy make visible how the group changes: the creature who once needed protection becomes one of Lilia’s protectors.

Thematic Function

White embodies growth without appropriation. Many WOC relationships involve a person being used as a vessel, copy, weapon or inherited body. White’s bond with Lilia starts in circumstances that could resemble ownership, but develops toward mutual recognition and chosen kinship.

His copying power also offers a benign version of informational inheritance. Black steals soul information to control and continue himself; White witnesses magic, remembers its structure and reproduces it without erasing the people from whom he learned.

The protective clothing reverses the direction of care. Lilia discovers and raises White; White later gives part of what his body naturally sheds so that she can survive. Protection becomes reciprocal rather than possessive.

E3 Light DragonHuman-level intelligence and speech; full dragon and humanoid formsComplete magical immunity in dragon form; approximately 66% resistance in humanoid formRetains the magic stored through earlier stages; exact E3 extensions TBC

Magic Copying And Storage

White’s juvenile power is adaptive. At E1 he mirrors the last available magical effect, making his response dependent on the immediate environment. At E2 he develops persistent magical memory: witnessed effects can be stored and reproduced later rather than displaced by the next one.

The complete inventory of magic White has witnessed and retained is TBC. His ability should not be treated as automatic mastery of every Expression, artefact or contractual authority. No source establishes that he can reproduce unique contracts such as Tempus simply by seeing them.

Draconic Resistance And Immunity

White’s hide becomes progressively more resistant as he evolves. The final dragon form is immune to magic, but this does not make White invulnerable. Physical force can still harm him, and changing into his humanoid form lowers his resistance to the E2 level of approximately 66%.

The hide remains exceptionally resistant after being shed and can be worked into protective material.

Light Dragon Physiology

At E3, White possesses:

  • Immense physical strength.
  • Flight.
  • Legendary draconic durability.
  • Full speech and human-level reasoning.
  • A humanoid transformation.
  • Complete magical immunity while fully draconic.
  • The long natural lifespan associated with dragons.

Dragons are proud, solitary and honour-driven. They rarely bond with humans, but a bond once formed is exceptionally loyal. Their lives may span centuries.

Notable Feats

  • Survives as an egg whose shell remains unchanged by explosions and other destructive forces.
  • Evolves from Wyrm to Drake during the Wurzelheim/Tower conflict.
  • Develops from recent-effect mimicry into persistent storage of witnessed magic.
  • Completes E3 and becomes the singular living Light Dragon.
  • Reaches a level considered among the modern heroes’ greatest sources of sheer physical force.
  • Provides shed hide strong enough for Tony and White to create highly magic-resistant clothing for Lilia.
  • Fights as a resistance member rather than remaining a protected familiar.

Limitations And Weaknesses

  • Juvenile dependency: White begins with toddler-level understanding and relies on Lilia for safety and interpretation.
  • No speech before E3: His early communication is non-verbal.
  • Stage restrictions: His intelligence, resistance and storage abilities depend on his current evolutionary stage.
  • Physical vulnerability: Full draconic immunity applies to magic, not every physical attack.
  • Humanoid trade-off: His resistance falls to 66% in humanoid form.
  • Witness requirement: His stored arsenal comes from magic he has actually observed.
  • Undefined compatibility: Unique contracts, artefact functions and soul-bound abilities should not be assumed copyable.
  • Pride and reserve: Mature dragon instincts may make social dependence difficult even when loyalty is secure.

Appearance And Personality

Appearance

Egg

White’s egg is pale and iridescent. Light across its shell produces a faint rainbow pattern. Its exact size, markings and shape are TBC.

E1 Wyrm

As a Wyrm, White is small enough to sit comfortably on Lilia’s shoulder. He has pearl-white, faintly iridescent scales and marine-blue eyes. His exact wingspan, horn shape, proportions and other anatomical details are TBC.

E2 Drake

The Drake form is larger and more physically capable while retaining the white iridescent scales and blue eyes. Its exact height, length, wing configuration and distinguishing markings are TBC.

E3 Light Dragon

White’s full Light Dragon form retains his pale, rainbow-reflective scales and marine-blue eyes. His complete adult silhouette, size, horns, wings and light-specific visual effects are TBC.

His humanoid form resembles a formal teenage boy. He has pale white hair with an iridescent quality and keeps his marine-blue eyes. His precise height, facial features, clothing design and apparent age within the teenage range are TBC.

Personality

White is affectionate and playful with the people he trusts. As a hatchling, he expresses love through proximity: sitting on Lilia, following her attention and seeking physical reassurance. He is curious without being socially bold.

He is shy, introverted and cautious around strangers. Trust develops gradually, as seen in his changing response to Tony. Once formed, it is deeply loyal in the manner associated with dragons.

Maturity does not erase his gentleness. His E3 pride and intelligence add formality and self-awareness, but his relationship with Lilia remains warm and sibling-like. The overly formal quality of his humanoid presentation creates a contrast with the small creature she raised.

Psychology And Character Growth

White’s growth compresses childhood, adolescence and self-definition into the trilogy’s short span. Each stage expands what he can remember, communicate and choose. At E1 he responds to immediate feeling and the most recent magic. At E2 he begins retaining experience. At E3 he can articulate an identity.

The central development is not simply becoming stronger. It is the movement from dependence to reciprocity. By WOC3, White remains with Lilia because he chooses family, and he uses his own body’s protection to help keep her alive.
