Reinhardt Rosenberg, the Mage Of The Phoenix, is one of the Founding Four and the first mage to enter a direct contract with the Ley Lines. He pioneers the joined use of spatial magic and authorised temporal power and becomes the model for the office later held by Archie.
Reinhardt helps defeat Blight in the First Great Wizarding War after Blight kills Kyoko. He is one of history’s strongest mages, but current canon places Archie—not Reinhardt—as the strongest of all time.
Plot
Reinhardt joins Kyoko, Vincent and Benedict in forming the institutions of modern mage society. He regulates magekind’s relationship with the Ley Lines and becomes the first person granted an exception to the Law of Time.
When Blight proposes cursed magic, Reinhardt rejects a system built to bypass the ecological and legal limits of the Ley Lines. Blight’s secret work leads to the First Great Wizarding War. Kyoko is killed, and Reinhardt ultimately defeats Blight, though Blight’s corrupted soul escapes complete purification.
Reinhardt’s methods, office and house shape Arcaneum for centuries. His distant descendant Archie later exceeds his historical power while inheriting the same spatial and temporal structure.
Role
Thematic Function
Reinhardt is the origin of authorised exception: he proves the Laws can make room for a guardian without becoming meaningless. His conflict with Blight contrasts negotiated authority with unilateral freedom.
Powerset
Reinhardt’s natural specialisation is spatial magic, paired with temporal authority granted through a Ley-Line contract. Exact named techniques, costs and differences from Archie’s later Spatium/Tempus system are TBC. Phoenix is his symbol and title; the exact literal extent of phoenix-related power is not confirmed.
Appearance And Personality
Appearance
TBC.
Personality
Courageous, protective and willing to confront a former ally when mage society is endangered. Rumoured to have been romantically involved with Kyoko.
