The Knight Of Spirits: Echoes Of Past follows Ken Kaedehara after an unexplained condition causes bursts of uncontrollable speed. His aunt reveals mage society and sends him to Arcaneum, where a possible treatment opens a much larger family mystery.
The artificial spirit Asta and a hidden threat inside the school complicate that search.
Story Structure
Ken’s condition is diagnosed as a Lingering Curse connected to incomplete magical capability and Asta’s presence. The Bangle permits Asta to manifest and stabilise his acceleration, turning involuntary speed into controllable movement.
Archie invites Ken to study theory and train as an unconventional Mageknight. Asta becomes the Astablade, which absorbs magic it cuts. Ken and Mai move from reluctant training partners toward personal closeness.
The Hermit is revealed as Aika Kaedehara, Ken’s mother and an embedded Harbinger. She diverts Archie and uses forced spirit contracts. Ken and Asta defeat the threat with allies; Aika dies. Traumatised, Ken leaves Arcaneum to travel and find himself.

Echoes Of Past makes Ken’s power inseparable from consent, inheritance and the choice to define himself outside both the plebeian/mage binary and his mother’s control.
