Magic Operation is the outward component of a Gate. It enables a being to take in mana and turn it into a spell, Expression or other magical effect.

Capabilities

Magic Operation performs the conversion at the Conduit stage of the Cycle Of Magic. A functional Operation does not prescribe one spell system: the caster can use Ancient shaping, Modern Primordium frameworks or a specialised Expression.

Catalysts work in a manner analogous to Operation by stabilising or augmenting conversion. Vincent Vetus relies on artefacts because his Gate lacks the function; Miranda uses creature partnerships and a bond-based Signature Technique. Ken receives magical capability through symbiosis with Asta rather than an ordinary inherited Gate.

History And Development

The formal distinction from Perception develops through magical scholarship and cases of incomplete Gates.

Role And Significance

Operation separates the ability to understand magic from the ability to make it act, supporting multiple routes to agency for non-standard mages.
