Mila Cosglow is Miranda Cosglow’s daughter and apprentice. She befriends Tony Thompson during the Arcaneum period and eventually confesses romantic feelings that he does not return.
Blight kills Mila in 2026, making her one of the personal casualties surrounding Operation Zero and deepening the cost carried by Tony and Miranda.
Plot
Mila trains at Arcaneum under Miranda and becomes part of the younger group surrounding Lilia, Tony, Mai and Ken. She befriends Tony while he is living under supervision because of Blight’s presence.
Mila develops romantic feelings and confesses them. Tony rejects the proposal, but the relationship remains emotionally important. During the 2026 conflict Blight kills Mila. The act weaponises Tony’s own possessed body and circumstances against another person he cares about.

Thematic Function
Mila humanises Arcaneum’s second-book period and makes the consequences of Blight’s violence immediate to Miranda and Tony. Her feelings are not framed as a prize Tony fails to claim; they expose the ordinary future that the possession crisis makes difficult or impossible.
