The Rarity System is the universal one-to-five-star classification used across magical people, artefacts, creatures and phenomena. Five stars denotes Legendary rarity.
A rating describes exceptional scarcity or capability, not goodness, authority or an automatic victory in every match-up.
Scale
The same visual scale permits comparison across domains while the thing being rated remains important. A five-star artefact, mabeast and mage are not identical kinds of power.
Confirmed Legendary artefacts include several Vetus works and Archie’s Dilator. Legendary artefacts have specific destruction rules in recovered canon; an exact item page records the grade when known.
The scale should not be used to fill missing data. Where no grade is confirmed, the wiki records TBC instead of deriving one from narrative importance.
History And Development
The system is part of established mage classification and was recovered as a complete colour-coded canon framework; exact institutional origin remains TBC.
Role And Significance
Rarity provides a shared shorthand while preserving tactical and conceptual differences that simple combat rankings miss.
