Harbinger is the general term for anyone who has held one of the 22 Major Arcana titles across history. The Original Harbingers are the first title-holders who serve Black during the Second Great Wizarding War.
The modern Order Of The Cycle is a ten-title subset, not a replacement definition for all Harbingers.
Taxonomy
Historical Origin
During the Second Great Wizarding War, 22 elite followers gain Black’s trust and receive Major Arcana titles. Even the weakest are described as Sage-level threats in popular history.
Modern Continuity
Titles can outlive an individual. By the modern era the active narrative roster focuses on End, Devil, Strength, Judgement, Tower, Hermit, Lovers, Hanged Man, Moon and Death. Tower, Hermit and Death are already deceased by or during WOC1, but their title-sets remain part of the Order’s structure.
Temperance belongs to an older roster and is not restored; Hermit supersedes it in current modern planning. Unnamed Arcana holders are withheld from character pages until identities are confirmed.
History And Development
Original title-holders emerge during the 1902–1920 Second War. Title succession continues into the WOC era.
Role And Significance
The taxonomy separates a historical institution from the ten characters relevant now and prevents an incomplete modern cast from contradicting the existence of all 22 titles.
