A Domain is a self-contained magical environment whose rules, puzzles and hazards differ from ordinary space. Vincent Vetus creates many surviving Domains to test prospective owners of his artefacts.

Solving one requires interpretation as often as force.

Structure

Vetus Domains are engineered trials. The Ayutthaya Domain teaches the Cycle Of Magic before releasing the Book Of Memories. Other ruins test the Law Of The Ley Line or guard artefacts such as the Staff and Map.

Domains can be entered through physical ruins, specialised openings or Requirement artefacts. Some are time- or condition-dependent. The Tower’s Rot can decompose a Domain’s structure, proving they are durable magical constructions rather than untouchable dimensions.

The Archive is an adaptive Requirement subspace and repository; it is related to Domain technology but has its own dedicated function and history.

History And Development

Vincent Vetus builds Domains during and after the founder era. Their continued operation supplies the modern cast with artefacts and lost instruction.

Role And Significance

Domains turn exposition into action. Characters learn a rule because the environment demands they understand it, and ownership becomes a test of comprehension rather than discovery alone.
