Neo Vetus is V’s best friend and primary rival in AOC1, the son of Selene Vetus and the next vessel in Vincent Vetus’s Soul Transmission chain.
At the reopened Archive, Neo defeats Falkenrath Black and copies or steals his soul information. Black’s identity does not survive independently inside him. The victory reveals the friend-rival relationship as the delivery mechanism for Vincent’s larger plan.
Plot
Neo is born to Selene Vetus. After Selene’s death, Vincent’s Soul Transmission continues into her son, making the relationship between Neo’s own identity and the founder’s continuing mind a central unresolved question.
In 2045 he intersects with V and Lilia’s attempt to restore the Key and open the Archive. The confrontation includes Black, still imprisoned since 2027. Neo kills or defeats the otherwise persistent Lord Of Souls and takes his soul information, memories or magical knowledge. The transfer does not preserve Black as a resident personality.
The act elevates Neo from rival to the central adversarial figure of the Apprentice Of Chronicles and advances Vincent’s plan to absorb the Ley Lines.
Role
Thematic Function
Neo makes the sequel conflict intimate. V’s primary rival is not merely a remote inheritor of old evil, but a best friend whose body and identity sit inside a plan older than modern mage society. His page therefore keeps “Neo” and “Vincent acting through Neo” distinct wherever canon has not yet merged them.
Powerset
Neo’s personal Expression and baseline Gate are TBC. Through the Vetus succession he carries Vincent’s knowledge and Soul Transmission. After the Archive confrontation he possesses information taken from Black, but the exact abilities reproduced from that information—and the method used to defeat an immortal soul specialist—remain TBC.
Appearance And Personality
Appearance
TBC.
Personality
Competitive and close enough to V to function as both best friend and rival. Independent character traits beyond that dynamic remain TBC to avoid substituting Vincent’s personality for Neo’s.
