| Name | Metamorphosis |
| Definition | Formal developmental process of a mabeast |
| Notation | E1, E2, E3 |
| Colloquial term | Evolution |
| Distinct from | Rarity |
Metamorphosis is the formal term for a mabeast’s developmental change between stages. Characters may casually call it evolution, but the E-stage notation is the canonical classification.
Stage Model
The dragon line is the only currently complete example: Wyrm, Drake and Dragon. Stage and rarity measure different properties; an advanced form is not automatically assigned a specific star grade unless canon states it.
Miranda’s Symbiotic Ascension is a temporary bond-based primal form and should not automatically be treated as a permanent metamorphic stage.
History And Development
The terminology is part of modern magical-zoology classification.
Role And Significance
Metamorphosis gives creature development a consistent language while preserving different biological paths for different species.
