A Magical Core is a concentrated structure capable of supplying or regulating magical performance. The term is most firmly established through the core Astaroth creates for Archie.
Known Function
During the 1892 Project Astaroth incident, Astaroth creates a magical core for Archie. It solves the mismatch between his enormous spatial output and poor natural precision. Archie later turns the core into the golden hourglass earring called the Dilator.
The core’s artificial origin makes the Dilator the only known Legendary artefact created after Vetus by someone other than Vetus. The current sources do not establish that every mage possesses a detachable “core” of the same kind.
History And Development
Artificial-core construction is demonstrated by Astaroth in 1892; the result shapes Archie’s career and later Operation Zero.
Role And Significance
The core connects Astaroth’s personhood to Archie’s power: a gift from an abused artificial spirit becomes the tool that makes the strongest mage safe and precise.
