NameLingering Curse
CarrierKen Kaedehara
SourceUnstable bond with Asta through the Spirit Bangle
SymptomUncontrolled acceleration and speed fluctuation
Resolution directionSymbiosis rather than simple removal

The Lingering Curse is the unexplained affliction that sends Ken Kaedehara into mage society. It causes sudden, uncontrollable acceleration that resembles super-speed without usable control.

The condition is connected to an ancient spirit artefact and cannot be treated as an ordinary disease.

Symptoms And Cause

The curse arises from Asta’s unstable presence through the Spirit Bangle. Ken lacks an ordinary mage’s Gate, so the bond expresses itself first as invasive, poorly regulated acceleration.

Attempts to separate spirit and host expose Project Astaroth and Aika’s identity as the Hermit. The long-term solution is not destruction of Asta but a consensual symbiosis that stabilises power through the Astablade.

The term “Lingering Curse” describes Ken’s initial condition; it should not be used as the name of his mature combat system.

History And Development

The condition manifests by 2022 and drives the events of KOS1.

Role And Significance

The apparent disease reframes possession as relationship. What begins as a threat becomes viable only when both participants receive agency.
