The Dilator is Archie Rosenberg’s Legendary golden hourglass earring. Built from a magical core created by Asta, it gives his overwhelming spatial magic the precision required for safe, surgical use.
It is the only known post-Vetus Legendary artefact made by someone other than Vetus.
Function
Astaroth gifts Archie a magical core during the 1892 crisis. Using it against Morningstar, he performs exact spatial cuts, teleportation and warping that his unaided control could not safely support. He later builds the core into the Dilator.
Black’s Operation Zero plan makes destruction of the earring a priority. Once it is broken, Archie still possesses immense spatial output but cannot unleash it around student hostages without killing them. The artefact’s loss therefore removes safe precision rather than raw power.
Its destruction must meet the Legendary durability rule through sufficient power or equivalent means; exact attacker and strike mechanics should follow the final manuscript.

Core created and first used in 1892; worn throughout Archie’s career; destroyed in 2026.
Role And Significance
The Dilator externalises the difference between strength and responsibility. Archie becomes “the strongest and most precise” because a vulnerable object lets him care where the power lands.
