The Cycle Of Magic, also called the Circle Of Magic, is the four-stage model describing how mana enters the world, is used, becomes an effect and returns as waste.

It applies to more than spellcasting: living organisms and ecosystems also act as conduits for mana.

The Four Stages

Stage	Canonical function	Magical example
Source	The Ley Lines distribute refreshed mana into life and the environment.	Ambient mana becomes available to a caster.
Conduit	A being or ecological process takes in and converts mana.	A mage’s Gate performs Magic Operation.
Power	The conversion produces an active effect.	Fire, a barrier or a specialised Expression manifests.
Waste	The charge is spent and an entropic vessel remains.	Mana Waste is drawn back toward the Lines.

The final stage is not rubbish in the ordinary sense. Waste is raw material for the next cycle once the Cycle Of Souls supplies the experience used to recharge it.

History And Development

The cycle is a descriptive model formalised by mage scholarship; it explains a pre-existing ecological process.

Role And Significance

The model prevents “spell fuel” from being treated as an isolated resource. A caster participates in a planetary loop whose recovery can be damaged by cursed waste.
